Reports to: VP of Information Services

 

Job Description

The Senior Rails Developer will collaborate with the technical team to develop software and applications to support the Neomedia OMS/OMI back end technology. This position requires excellent judgment and analysis for the development and implementation of the different applications of the Neomedia OMS/OMI.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for enhancing and refactoring existing Java-based infrastructure
  • Responsible for building new Rails-based business support applications.
  • Research, evaluate and implement new software technologies
  • Create functional specifications requirements and product design of new software
  • Implement new features into existing software and develop new software
  • Provide maintenance and quality assurance of new software
  • Database design
  • Assist with technical documentation and provide assistance to Quality Assurance to resolve highly complex technical issues with the software
  • Monitor and analyze performance characteristics, load testing and research and recommend alterations to development or design in order to enhance the quality of our products.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related experience.Hands on implementation experience with J2EE technologies like Java Servlets, EJB 3.0, JMS, XML, HTML, SOAP, WSDL, JSP, SOA, Hibernate, JSF, etc.
  • At least 12 months of solid experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Excellent knowledge of RDBMS technologies with advanced capabilities in at least one industry grade relational database system – Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server
  • Excellent working knowledge of Tomcat application server.  Knowledge of other application servers a plus
  • Experience in web application security
  • Collaborative work style with strong communication and documentation skills
  • Strong conceptual and analytic skills
  • Self-starter
  • Strong leadership skills
  • High degree of initiative
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
  • Team player, must be comfortable working with support, sales and technical staff
