Lavasphere

Brief description

Comprising low-footprint algorithms, the Lavasphere technology enables mobile devices with integrated camera to read Data Matrix codes and a variety of other two-dimensional (2d) symbologies as well as one-dimensional (1d) barcodes.

Designed to be embedded directly into mobile devices, the Lavasphere technology is primarily targeted at mobile phone manufacturers and vendors ambitious to add extra value to their camera-enabled mobile devices and therefore boost their usability.

The Lavasphere technology features a set of ultra-small footprint algorithms enabling mobile devices to be more intuitive and making mobile commerce services more attractive.

The Lavasphere technology does not require any additional hardware. Simply by using the integrated camera, codes can be captured and decoded directly. This allows for extremely competitive pricing compared to dedicated hardware such as RFID, NFC reader or laser scanner.

The ultra-small footprint and the portable platform-independent C-code of the Lavasphere algorithms allow for easy integration into current and future camera-enabled mobile devices and platforms – regardless of the operating system used. The image processing algorithms are optimized for platforms with constrained resources and allow for omni-directional decoding of 1d and 2d codes.
