Heartbreak at the Death: NEOM S.C. Fall to Al Nassr in Matchweek 25
NEOM, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – March 7, 2026 – NEOM S.C. lost their match against hosts Al Nassr by one goal to nil in the game held at Al Awwal Park in Riyadh, as part of Round 25 of the Roshn Saudi League.
First Half
NEOM S.C. head coach Christophe Galtier started the match with a lineup consisting of Luís Maximiano in goal. In front of him were the back four of Islam Hawsawi, Nathan Zézé, Awn Al Saluli, and Mohammed Al Burayk. In midfield were Amadou Koné, Abdoulaye Doucouré, Alaa Hejji, and Rayane Messi, while French striker Alexandre Lacazette partnered with Said Benrahma in attack.
The first half ended goalless between the two teams, with an open contest that saw several missed chances from both sides.
Second Half
In the second half, the deadlock remained intact until the final 30 minutes, when Al Nassr began to assert control, while NEOM S.C. goalkeeper Maximiano delivered an outstanding performance, making nine saves - seven of them from inside the box.
NEOM S.C.’s counterattacks came close to producing the opener on two occasions through Rayane Messi; one effort struck the crossbar, while the other was denied by Al Nassr’s goalkeeper. Said Benrahma was also unfortunate, seeing his strike hit the right post.
Deep into stoppage time (90+5), Al Nassr defender Simakan snatched the decisive goal, capitalising on a cross delivered from a free-kick near the box.
