Port of NEOM and Partners Enable European Multimodal Land Bridge, Advancing Regional Cargo Connectivity

April 14, 2026
Port of NEOM, together with Pan Marine and supported by DFDS alongside regional logistics partners, has enabled a multimodal corridor linking Europe, Egypt, NEOM, and the GCC. The corridor provides a faster and more flexible route for European cargo entering the region, combining trucking and ferry‑based freight services to offer a reliable alternative to traditional pathways.

NEOM, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 14 April 2026 – NEOM has advanced regional connectivity by enabling a European multimodal land bridge which facilitates truck-carried freight to move directly from Europe to Egypt and into the Gulf, via Port of NEOM.

Pan Marine Group - which launched its RoPax service between Port of Safaga and Port of NEOM at the end of 2025 - activated European connectivity at the end of March 2026, through its partnership with DFDS, a Danish international shipping and logistics company.

This integration allows truck-carried freight to move directly from Europe to Egypt and into the Gulf, via Port of NEOM. The multimodal corridor offers an alternative to previous only container flows and enables the movement of critical goods, including FMCG and other time-sensitive cargo.

The route is already in active use by importers from several European countries including Italy, the UK, Germany, and Poland. The corridor provides direct access into the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, the wider GCC, and Iraq, supporting customers seeking predictable and efficient market entry.

The new pathway builds on a successful intermodal pilot in 2025 which connected a strategic route from Egypt (Port of Safaga), to northern Saudi Arabia (via Port of NEOM) onwards to Iraq via the Arar border.

The pilot demonstrated significant reductions in transit time compared with conventional routes, underscoring the value of coordinated maritime and inland routing for time-sensitive shipments.

By linking European networks with Red Sea routes and the land bridge serving Port of NEOM’s gateway role, the Port and its partners are strengthening established regional cargo flows and offering a dependable alternative for customers navigating evolving logistics requirements.

Strategically located on the Red Sea and near key inland corridors, Port of NEOM continues to expand its role as a stable regional hub supporting efficient cargo movement between Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
