OUR NATURE

Conservation for future generations

ABOUT OUR NATURE

Advancing conservation

Spanning 26,500 square kilometers of mountains, deserts, plains and 468 kilometers of coastline, NEOM is committed to safeguarding the region’s natural heritage. Through habitat restoration, species reintroduction, and marine conservation, NEOM supports national goals under Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.

OUR MISSION

Reviving ecosystems

Through large‑scale land and marine ecosystem restoration, NEOM is strengthening ecological resilience and reversing environmental degradation. Restoration efforts include regreening, rewilding, marine zonation, and science‑based management.

HABITAT RESTORATION

Regreening programs

Here at NEOM, regreening efforts are accelerating recovery of native species. Over five million climate-resilient plants, supplied by the NEOM Nature Reserve’s solar-powered plant nursery, are already helping to stabilize the land and rebuild habitats.

LAND REWILDING

Returning species

Across mountains, deserts and wadis, once‑lost species are returning home through rewilding efforts. In partnership with the National Center for Wildlife, Arabian oryx, ibex, ostriches, sooty falcons and other native species have now returned to NEOM.

MARINE ECOSYSTEMS

Restoring biodiversity

Our waters, with vibrant coral reefs and deep canyons, are home to many endangered species. Through science‑led conservation efforts and under the National Red Sea Sustainability Strategy, NEOM is restoring these vital ecosystems.

OUR CONSERVATION EFFORTS

As part of one of the world’s most ambitious conservation programs in arid landscapes, NEOM is safeguarding biodiversity and restoring ecosystems across both land and sea.

Our work is driven by research, strategic planning, adaptive management, regulatory compliance and long‑term ecological monitoring.

INSIDE THE RESERVE

NEOM NATURE RESERVE

  • ATTRACTIONS

The NEOM Nature Reserve protects some of the region’s most diverse and breathtaking landscapes, including the Secret Garden. The reserve's main attraction is the Bajdah Rewilding Site, which is open to the public and managed by a team of local rangers. Surrounding the wildlife site are key landmarks such as the Great Arch.

  • VISITOR EXPERIENCES

Supported by a growing team of local rangers and compliance experts, the NEOM Nature Reserve is piloting experiences that connect people with nature and celebrate local culture. At the Bajdah Rewilding Site, visitors can witness the return of species to their natural habitat, including gazelles and ostriches.

  • RICH NATURAL HERITAGE

Bajdah lies in the heart of Hisma desert, where sandstone cliffs and red dunes meet rare astronomical clarity to create a breathtaking destination. The region sits along ancient trade routes, with evidence of its rich biodiversity preserved in centuries‑old stone carvings depicting ibex, oryx, and even cheetas.
